DUBAI// Four jobless men broke into a shop in Al Rafaa and stole 131 electronic gadgets, including iPhones, laptops and iPads.
The four Afghans, aged between 21 and 31, were charged with burglary and damaging property when they appeared at Dubai Criminal Court.
Three admitted to the charges while the other man claimed he was not in the country at the time of the incident on May 27 last year.
However, all four were convicted and sentenced to three years in jail each to be followed by deportation.
The shop’s Indian owner received a call from a member of staff about the raid. “When I went I saw the locks damaged. I went through the items but 84 laptops, 20 iPhones and 27 iPads were missing.”
Surveillance cameras footage helped police identify and apprehend the four men.

- Upload the training certificate from a centre accredited by the GCAA
- Submit their request

- Ensure maximum flying height of 400 feet (122 metres) above ground level is not crossed
- Users must avoid flying over restricted areas listed on the UAE Drone app

Classification of skills
A worker is categorised as skilled by the MOHRE based on nine levels given in the International Standard Classification of Occupations (ISCO) issued by the International Labour Organisation.
A skilled worker would be someone at a professional level (levels 1 – 5) which includes managers, professionals, technicians and associate professionals, clerical support workers, and service and sales workers.
