Man who molested girl, 13, for two years jailed for three months

Court heard that the defendant started molesting the girl when she was 11 at her family’s home in Bur Dubai

A man has been convicted of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl for two years.

Dubai Criminal Court heard that the Indian defendant started molesting the girl when she was 11 at her family's home in Bur Dubai. In August last year, the girl's mother was checking her daughter's email when she noticed an email from the defendant titled "18+".

"I opened the clip – it was porn. I was shocked and spoke to my daughter, who told me everything. She told me how he used to touch her and then I remembered how she would always be unhappy and even angry whenever he used to visit us at home," said the mother, 47, who called police.

The child told police that he started touching her privates and kissing her.

"He told me that if I told my family, they will give me up and send me back to India," said the child, according to court records.

A police corporal testified that when he questioned the defendant, the defendant told him he loved the victim and she loved him back.

A medical report confirmed that the girl had been sexually abused for a long period of time.

In an appearance at Dubai Criminal Court last November, the accused denied charges of sexually assaulting a minor, sending pornographic material to a minor and inciting sin, but was found guilty. 

On Sunday, the man was sentenced to three months in jail to be followed by deportation.
