Man who assaulted compatriot for refusing sex with prostitute jailed

DUBAI // A Bangladeshi who assaulted and robbed his compatriot because the victim did not want to have sex with a prostitute has been jailed by Dubai Criminal Court.

MA, 30, was charged with assaulting and robbing FH, 25, on the night of September 23 last year. He was sentenced to six months in jail.

“I was heading home when I saw a man who offered that I have sex with one of his women prostitutes,” FH said. “I said no, then he lured me to a poorly lit area where two men attacked me and robbed me of Dh1,300.”

The victim called police who subsequently arrested the defendant. A medical report confirmed that FH had been assaulted and left with multiple bruises.

The defendant denied the charges in court last December and will be deported after completing his jail term.
