DUBAI // A woman stabbed her boyfriend to death as he slept before lying on his chest and falling asleep herself, Dubai Criminal Court heard on Tuesday.
The victim’s friend, M S, told prosecutors he had dinner with the deceased, M R, in Garhoud the night of the incident last year. “He kept receiving phone calls during our dinner. He told me that night that he wanted to break up with E T because he felt uncomfortable and bored in the relationship.”
According to records, E T called M S at noon the next day. “She was crying. She told me that she had killed M R and didn’t know what to do,” said M S, adding that he reported the incident.
“The defendant told me that she was drunk at the time,” police officer M M told prosecutors. “The defendant saw M R asleep in the bedroom and she tried to wake him up to talk to him, without luck.”
“She then sat on him and stabbed him. He woke up and tried to defend himself, but she stabbed him two additional times. She slept with her head on his chest, before she called the police when she woke up.”
M M told prosecutors that E T said that she had bought M R two cars and that he had taken money from her.
“She was crying and hysterical. She told me that she was constantly fighting with M R because he had had relationships with other women and that he promised to marry her, but kept breaking his promise,” said Emirati police officer, F M.
E T was charged with murder, among other charges. The case has been adjourned.
