ABU DHABI // A man held a knife to a prostitute's throat after a disagreement over her fee and then raped her, a court heard yesterday.
KA, from Yemen, picked the woman up from a hotel and told her he would take her to his villa, but during the squabble he drew a knife and forced her to undress, telling her he would kill her if she did not do as he wished.
Fayza Moussa, KA's lawyer, told the Criminal Court that her client had often used the prostitute before.
Mrs Moussa submitted forensic reports to the court that showed no fingerprints had been found on the knife that the man is alleged to have used.
She said that medical examinations on the prostitute found no signs of injury or forceful assault.
"The prostitute got into my client's car on her own free will," she said. "Her desire was to remain with him for the money. When he did not pay she sought vengeance."
The man was charged with attempted rape, threatening murder and consuming alcohol.
No traces of alcohol were found in his blood sample. A verdict is expected on October 2.
