DUBAI // A man molested a woman in an office kitchen after asking her for a glass of water, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

Jordanian A A denied a charge of sexual assault when he appeared in court on Monday.

Prosecutors said the 39-year-old visited a company in Al Rashidiya on October 12 this year to deliver gifts to the manager.

“It was around 7pm when he came and asked for the manager,” said the victim, H J, from the Philippines. “I told him he was not present. Then he asked me for a glass of water.”

He then followed the 24-year-old victim to the kitchen and allegedly touched her chin, chest, abdomen and tried to hold her by the waist.

“I screamed loudly so he ran out but after a while he came back and asked me not to tell my boss what happened,” said the woman, who reported A A to the police.

A A was arrested on October 14 and, during questioning, admitted molesting the woman.

“He said he liked the woman,” said 29-year-old Emirati policeman H A.

He told the prosecutor that he did not touch H J with the intention of molesting her.

A A presented an authenticated waiver from the victim in which she dropped the charges against him.

A verdict is expected on December 29.
