DUBAI // A man has been charged with premeditated murder for allegedly stabbing his flatmate to death in a car parked near the Mall of the Emirates Metro station.
SH, a 33-year-old Egyptian, denied the charge yesterday in the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance, claiming he acted in self-defence. Prosecutors say the victim, identified as DS, was stabbed 11 times in the face and chest.
SH said he was trying to take DS to the Jebel Ali police station to file charges against him over rent he was owed. He claimed DS had pulled a knife on him while he was driving. A forensic examiner's report concluded that the victim's wounds were defensive.
Seven of the 11 wounds were to the body, and two were deep enough to kill the victim, the report said.
The case continues on August 9.
