SHARJAH // A man featured in an indecent video clip that was published online, drawing condemnation from the Ruler of Sharjah, has asked for forgiveness.

Khalid Huria, who can be seen in the footage sitting by a woman who is gyrating next to him, as a crowd of men watch, spoke to The National about the incident.

“I was rejoicing, and I didn’t mean to [commit] indecent assault,” he said. “I am a father, and I feel sorry and regret about what happened.”

On Monday, Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, ordered the emirate’s police to launch an investigation into the video, taken at a wedding that was held in the enclave of Khor Fakkan, on the east coast.

Mr Huria, who said his family had also been affected by the fall out, warned people to be wary of what they post online.

“I also warn people to be careful and cautious in private weddings from using mobiles,” he said.
