A man drowned at Al Muairied beach in Ras Al Khaimah on Monday.
Police were called to the beach at 12pm after bystanders pulled the 30-year-old Pakistani man from the sea.
Maj Tareq Al Sharhan, Head of Emergency Department at Ras Al Khaimah Police, said the marine rescue team attempted to resuscitate the man on the beach.
“He was rushed to Saqr hospital but he died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital,” he said.
Maj Al Sharhan urged the public to avoid swimming in rough seas.
Ras Al Khaimah Ambulance and Rescue Section carried out almost 200 rescue operations during the first seven months of the year, most of which involved marine rescue teams.
Some 153 of the 187 operations were handled by the marine rescue team and included the rescue of four drowning victims and providing support to 12 damaged boats and jet skis at sea.
Maj Al Sharhan called on beach-goers to use the designated swimming areas and not to leave children unattended near pools and the beach.
“Four Asian children aged between 5 to 8 were rescued from drowning this year after they were dragged into the sea due to high waves,” he said.
