ABU DHABI // A defendant who is charged with publishing insulting material online will receive psychiatric analysis after claiming he was suffering from bipolar disorder.

On Monday, Judge Mohammed Al Tenaiji ordered the tests for M S R, 31, from Oman, who is on trial at the Federal Supreme Court.

Previously, M S R’s lawyer said his client suffers from a medical condition that causes him to act irresponsibly.

The judge had requested a full report on M S R’s medical condition, however the reports were not ready for the hearing.

So he instead ordered a medical committee of three psychiatrists to fully examine the defendant to find out if he is responsible for his actions.

The case was adjourned to December 7 ato await the medical results.
