DUBAI // A man attacked his neighbour with a meat cleaver after the neighbour’s mentally ill son walked into the wrong house by accident, a court heard yesterday.
Prosecutors said the child strayed into the house next door and that when his father A M came to apologise he was chased off by A H, 24, an Emirati, who was wielding a meat cleaver.
The Emirati caught the man and chopped into his wrist causing a deep cut that nearly severed his hand. He then caught the child and chopped into his left arm.
A police officer who witnessed the attack called for back up and helped take the injured pair to hospital.
Medics estimated the neighbour’s injuries as constituting a 25 per cent disability and his son’s injuries a 2 per cent disability, for the purposes of blood money.
The defendant was not in court to enter a plea and the case was adjourned to November 11.
