SHARJAH // An Indian national has been arrested on suspicion of circulating child pornography using an internet file sharing programme.
The man is alleged to have been using peer to peer (P2P) software to publish pornography featuring children, a police spokesman said.
Police were alerted about the illegal activity and formed a team to investigate. Officers raided his home in the Muweilleh neighbourhood after getting authorization from the public prosecution and arrested him.
The man's computer was confiscated by officers who also found files containing pornographic images of children.
The man confessed to his crimes and has been referred to prosecutors.
Police have appealed to the public to report any crimes on the toll free number 999, or 800151 or 065632222.
