DUBAI // An Arab man has been arrested in possession of more than 700,000 Captagon pills in his hotel room.
The 31-year-old, who police said was visiting the UAE from another Gulf country, was arrested after a tip-off that he was selling mind-altering drugs and moving from hotel to hotel in Dubai to evade arrest.
Maj Gen Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, deputy chief commander for Criminal Investigation Affairs at Dubai Police, said that after weeks of hotel-hopping the man was ambushed by police.
Upon arrest, police found narcotic pills in his pocket as well as in his room and in the boot of his car - totalling 727,504 pills. He was also found to be high on drugs at the time.
Colonel Eid Mohammed Thani Hareb, director of the General Department for Anti-narcotics Police, urged all residents of the UAE to fight drugs by reporting incidents.
