DUBAI // A man has been arrested in Fujairah for allegedly trying to sell four kilograms of heroin.
Dubai Police said on Saturday that the man, 24, from an Asian country, was caught after officers received information that he smuggled drugs into the UAE and other Gulf countries.
Dubai officers coordinated with Fujairah Police to arrest the man last month, said Maj Gen Khalil Al Mansouri, assistant to the Dubai Police chief.
“The team received a tip-off about the Asian man, who works as a driver and coordinated with another lorry driver to give him the drugs in order to smuggle it to another Gulf country,” said Col Eid Hareb, head of the Dubai Police anti-narcotics department.
Police arrested the 24-year-old driver, who was planning to hand over drugs to another lorry driver in Fujairah. Four kilograms was found in the suspect’s home, Col Hareb said.
The suspect was referred to Dubai Public Prosecution.
