Man acquitted of raping 13-year-old Emirati girl

The defendant claimed that the man spiked her drink then raped her at knifepoint in the back of his car. Dubai Criminal Court acquitted the man on Sunday.

DUBAI // A man who was accused of spiking a 13-year-old girl’s drink then raping her at knifepoint was found not guilty by the Dubai Criminal Court on Sunday.

Prosecutors told the court that the defendant B A, 22, who holds a Comoros Islands passport, was friends with the girl’s boyfriend.

The Emirati girl told the court that she had been speaking to the defendant for several months over the phone before the alleged incident.

She claimed that he picked her up from school, gave her a can of juice, which was spiked, and then raped her at knifepoint in the back of his car.

She said that after the incident she told her family, who brought the defendant to the police station.

He denied raping the girl, saying that he only collected her from school and took her home.

He denied a charge of rape at the Dubai Criminal Court last September.

No evidence was attached to the case file to back up the rape claim.
