Maid ‘performed black magic and stole from sponsors’

The Indonesian was said to have photos of family members hidden in her wardrobe with pins and odd writing on the photos.

DUBAI // A maid on trial for stealing valuables from her sponsor’s home is also accused of performing black magic against his family.

Prosecutors said that Indonesian W S, 38, stole Dh1,500 worth of items from the house in Business Bay.

Her Jordanian sponsor, A N, 28, said after a search of the maid’s wardrobe they found other items thought lost. Among them were pictures of his family with pins stuck in them and unusual writing.

W S was charged with theft at Dubai Criminal Court and with performing sorcery at Dubai Court of Misdemeanours.

She was not present on Sunday to enter a plea. A verdict is expected on January 31.
