The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has confirmed that computers in the UAE were affected by the Madi Trojan virus that attacked Iran and Israel last week. The infection rate was very low compared to other countries in the region, it said.

The virus dubbed "Madi Trojan" was detected by Kaspersky Lab and spread in a PowerPoint attachment.

A TRA spokesman said the Trojan targeted infrastructure companies, financial services and government embassies in the UAE. aeCERT said it was coordinating with internet service providers to block the Trojan.
