Knowing what to do in a car crash can save time and hassle.
If the crash is minor and no one has been injured, move the vehicles to the side of the road. However, if there is a chance moving the cars will make it difficult to determine who is at fault, keep everything as it is.
Immediately call 999. The dispatcher will send a traffic police unit or Saaed, the UAE's road accident response company, to the scene within 15 minutes.
The officers will determine on the spot who was at fault. If the other driver leaves before the police arrive, take down the vehicle's make, model and number plate.
Officers will provide two accident forms: a green one for the driver not at fault; and a pink one for the driver thought to be at fault.
If either driver disagrees with the officers' assessment, the matter will be referred to the closest police station.
Drivers should always carry their licence, registration and insurance.
