DUBAI // An Ethiopian housemaid attempted to kidnap her employer's son while disguised in an abaya, a court was told yesterday. RS, 24, is accused of trying to abduct the four-year-old boy from his school in February. Appearing in the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance, she pleaded not guilty to attempted kidnapping. Prosecutors said RS went to the school in Nad al Sheba and said her employer's wife had sent her to pick up the boy, MA.

LB, 33, an assistant administrator, said RS's "broken Arabic" had made her suspicious. "When she took off her head dress I saw fear and confusion in her face," LB told prosecutors. When LB said MA was in class, RS had replied that she would wait. LB then called MA's mother, who said she knew nothing about the maid's claims. That was when the school called the police. The case was adjourned until April 30.
