The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation (KBZF) has entered into a medical partnership with two American hospitals as part of the foundation’s effort to develop the skills of Emirati doctors, medical students and administrators.
The collaboration between KBZF, under the patronage of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs and chairman of KBZF, and the two medical facilities, MD Anderson Cancer Centre (MDCC), and the Cleveland Mayo Clinic Abu Dhabi was announced during a joint medical forum in Abu Dhabi.
Mohammed Hajji Al Khouri, director-general at KBZF, said that the two hospitals have major academic teaching centres for research and practice, and that the new programme will offer a great opportunity for nationals to develop their skills.
“The foundation’s aim is to raise the number of UAE specialists in all disciplines, including oncology, internal medicine, surgery, etc, to compliment the health system that is already in place, and to aid the continuous pursuit of medical excellence in this region,” said Mr Al Khouri.
Educational programmes will be offered to qualified candidates, ranging from collaborative internships from one to three months, scholarships, residencies, and fellowships.
