DUBAI // An International Labour Organisation team here to assess efforts to safeguard the rights of temporary workers has been received by Dubai Police’s Human Trafficking Crime Control Centre.
The ILO Decent Work Technical Support Team for the Arab States is headed by Hans Van, who was welcomed by Dr Sultan Al Jammal, director of HTCCC.
Dr Al Jammal said that Dubai Police human trafficking took all labour-related complaints seriously and that this was particularly true for human trafficking cases.
He said HTCCC consists of five sections: Caring for Victims of Human Trafficking, Department of Study and Analysis of Human Trafficking, Training and Rehabilitation, International Cooperation and Monitoring the Conditions of Temporary Employment. The latter includes the Division of Inspection and Preventive Campaigns and the Division of Labour Strikes.
Dr Al Jammal added that the Temporary Employment Conditions Monitoring Section handles all human-trafficking reports and conducts inspection visits on labour accommodation to ensure workers are safe and there is no exploitation.
