Indian politician Amar Singh recovering in Abu Dhabi

Indian politician Amar Singh, who was hospitalised at Dubai's Welcare Hospital on Monday after his sugar levels dropped, was discharged this morning.

A family friend of Mr Singh said he was recuperating at a friend's home in Abu Dhabi and is expected to leave the UAE in the next couple of days.

"His condition is stable now," said Ajit Prasad. "He will leave in the next couple of days. It depends on his health. And instead of Singapore, he is going back to Delhi. After taking rest, he will travel from Delhi to Singapore."

Mr Singh, 57, a member of the upper house of the Indian parliament, or Rajya Sabha, was taken to hospital after he fainted at the Dubai International Airport. He was planning to board a flight to Singapore, where he is undergoing treatment for kidney problems.
