Teen years are a time for many to build their unique personality, go to school and hang out with friends. For Mr Ahmed, it was a time that completely changed the course of his life – at 15, he started using drugs.
Mr Ahmed, 30, said in a video posted by Dubai Police: “I started consuming drugs in 2002.
"Going through drug addiction is a harsh experience ... I lost all my life in jail.
“Substance abuse will lead either to prison or death,” said Mr Ahmed.
“The most important aspects of life are health, family trust and securing a career. I urge the youth to listen to their parents.
Mr Ahmed said that he did not get married due to drugs.
Dubai Police has launched a series of campaigns to raise awareness about the dangers of consuming drugs.

A little about CVRL
Founded in 1985 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, the Central Veterinary Research Laboratory (CVRL) is a government diagnostic centre that provides testing and research facilities to the UAE and neighbouring countries.
One of its main goals is to provide permanent treatment solutions for veterinary related diseases.
The taxidermy centre was established 12 years ago and is headed by Dr Ulrich Wernery.
