DUBAI // A marketing manager twisted his wife’s lover’s arm and threatened to kill him if he shared any of the pictures that he had of her, prosecutors told Dubai Criminal Court on Monday.
The Indian, 48, denied a physical assault charge that resulted in a 15 per cent permanent disability to his countryman and another charge of issuing death threats.
“His injury happened prior to the incident and I didn’t cause it,” the defendant told judges.
The defendant’s wife had had an affair with a 48-year-old Indian accountant, prosecutors said, and he was said to have taken pictures of the woman.
Prosecutors said that on June 20 last year, the husband visited the lover at his workplace in Al Jaddaf and asked him to hand over his mobile phone so he could retrieve the pictures.
“I didn’t give it to him so he tried to pull it out of my hand, at which point he twisted my arm and tried to strangle me, saying that he would kill me if I handed the photos and an audio recording of his wife and I to the police,” the accountant claimed in his testimony.
He added that the husband ran away, after which the accountant reported him to police.
A forensic report said that he was left with a 15 per cent permanent disability in his shoulder as a result of the twisting.
The next hearing will be on April 25.
