Hundreds of expats become Muslims, Islamic centre says

DUBAI // The Islamic Information Centre of the Dar Al Ber Society has distributed about 150,000 books since last month and also helped 442 people of different nationalities convert to Islam.

Abdullah Ali bin Zayed, the chief executive of the centre, said the majority of the converts were from the Philippines.

“The centre distributed 149,771 books and organised 676 lectures and lessons on Islamic, social and contemporary topics, an intensive new Muslims course and 32 diverse activities,” he said.

The centre also managed to collect Dh270,711 in contributions from philanthropists in support of its ongoing activities and programmes.

Rashid Al Junaibi, manager of the centre, said scholars and preachers are available to assist visitors and answer their queries about Islam.

“They also distribute books, cassettes, CDs on Islam, Quran, Sunnah and Arabic language to visitors, non-Muslims and fresh Muslims, and run advanced courses for prospective scholars,” he said.
