Al Masaood will have to draw on his experiences of the Dubai 24 Hour Endurance Race for the final event of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) at the Road Atlanta circuit this weekend.
The Petit Le Mans is an estimated 10-hour race covering a gruelling 1,600 kilometres and the UAE-based Oryx Racing Team driver believes the pace will be intense throughout.
"It is vital we get away to a good start as this is going to be a race driven at an intense pace and all cars are similar in terms of performance capability," the Abu Dhabi-based driver said.
Al Masaood will once again team up with Steven Kane and Butch Leitzinger, the same trio who finished third in their last outing for Oryx Racing at the Monterey Grand Prix in California two weeks ago.
"We have a very reliable car, and every member of the team will have to pull out all of the stops in their individual areas to ensure we have a chance of competing for another success," said Al Masaood, who has driven to four podiums in just six races in the team's debut season in ALMS.
"With a 1,600km race in front of us it is important we have a strategy and one that can be adapted given the challenges that occur in endurance racing."
The Oryx team saw their sister car, Dyson Racing, secure the team, manufacturer and drivers' championship in California, and will take third in the team championship if they stay ahead of the Autocon team this weekend.
"It will be key to get as much out of the car as possible and make sure we finish the race to give us a fighting chance," Al Masaood said.
The track at Hall County near Brasletown, Georgia, features 12 turns, including the "esses" where drivers are forced to drive blind as the corner takes its uphill ascent into turn five.

Tomato and walnut salad
A lesson in simple, seasonal eating.
