DUBAI // Registering a complaint against Dubai Police is simple. Those wishing to do so can call the hotline on 901 or visit www.ecomplain.ae and follow the instructions provided.

Once a person files a complaint, they will immediately receive an SMS with a reference number, after which they will be contacted within five to seven days with a preliminary response.

Lt Col Ahmad Al Mansouri, director of the Rights and Freedoms Protection unit, which investigates the complaints, said: “If a person does not like the results of the investigation, then a person can object to it. The issue will escalate with the director of the Human Rights Department at Dubai Police.

“The Dubai Police chief follows this system closely and there are quarterly reports stating where there are gaps to be filled and what needs modification.

“We have no problem with complaints because it sometimes sheds light on gaps we may have. We don’t take it negatively because it might be beneficial.

“We hope people cooperate with the police.”
