ABU DHABI // If you find snakes, rubbish or discarded furniture dumped in front of your building, villa or even in your neighbourhood, the best option is to file a complaint with the Abu Dhabi Center of Waste Management (CWM).
The centre is authorised to manage all kinds of waste collection as well as pest control.
Omar Al Shoubaki, contract manager at the CWM, urged residents to bring in pest control only from certified companies, asking to see proof of certification before hiring them.
Residents can call the centre at 800 1122 to report snakes, wild animals, or overflowing rubbish bins, Mr Al Shoubaki said.
The response time depends on the kind of complaint. A report of dangerous animals or snakes would prompt a quick response, he said.
The toll free number is for all residents in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, including Al Ain and the Western Region.
Residents of Al Ain who want to report fallen trees or flooding can also call the Al Ain Municipality at its emergency toll free number, 993.
Ghadeer El Kheshen, communication and media specialist at the CWM, said the centre also receives calls from Abu Dhabi's eGovernment hotline, 800 555.

What is a robo-adviser?
Robo-advisers use an online sign-up process to gauge an investor’s risk tolerance by feeding information such as their age, income, saving goals and investment history into an algorithm, which then assigns them an investment portfolio, ranging from more conservative to higher risk ones.
These portfolios are made up of exchange traded funds (ETFs) with exposure to indices such as US and global equities, fixed-income products like bonds, though exposure to real estate, commodity ETFs or gold is also possible.
Investing in ETFs allows robo-advisers to offer fees far lower than traditional investments, such as actively managed mutual funds bought through a bank or broker. Investors can buy ETFs directly via a brokerage, but with robo-advisers they benefit from investment portfolios matched to their risk tolerance as well as being user friendly.
Many robo-advisers charge what are called wrap fees, meaning there are no additional fees such as subscription or withdrawal fees, success fees or fees for rebalancing.

Explainer: Tanween Design Programme
Non-profit arts studio Tashkeel launched this annual initiative with the intention of supporting budding designers in the UAE. This year, three talents were chosen from hundreds of applicants to be a part of the sixth creative development programme. These are architect Abdulla Al Mulla, interior designer Lana El Samman and graphic designer Yara Habib.
The trio have been guided by experts from the industry over the course of nine months, as they developed their own products that merge their unique styles with traditional elements of Emirati design. This includes laboratory sessions, experimental and collaborative practice, investigation of new business models and evaluation.
It is led by British contemporary design project specialist Helen Voce and mentor Kevin Badni, and offers participants access to experts from across the world, including the likes of UK designer Gareth Neal and multidisciplinary designer and entrepreneur, Sheikh Salem Al Qassimi.
The final pieces are being revealed in a worldwide limited-edition release on the first day of Downtown Designs at Dubai Design Week 2019. Tashkeel will be at stand E31 at the exhibition.
Lisa Ball-Lechgar, deputy director of Tashkeel, said: “The diversity and calibre of the applicants this year … is reflective of the dynamic change that the UAE art and design industry is witnessing, with young creators resolute in making their bold design ideas a reality.”
