Hundreds of workers across Abu Dhabi were given new clothes and food packages on Sunday, before Eid Al Adha.

Abu Dhabi Municipality visited labour accommodation across the emirate to deliver goods to 1,000 workers.

The initiative aims to “strengthen the values of compassion and social cohesion,” the municipality said.

Municipal staff also relayed health and safety information about working on construction sites to the workers during their visits to camps on Reem Island, Al Raha Beach, Yas Island and Bani Yas.

Eid Al Adha is the holiest of the two Islamic festivals. During the public holiday, families feast together and typically wear new clothes.

This year, Eid Al Adha will be celebrated from Thursday, July 30, to Sunday, August 2.
