A pharmaceutical product widely used to treat fevers in children has been withdrawn from sale by the Ministry of Health and Prevention.
The ministry issued a circular on Monday recalling Profinal 100mg/5ml after laboratory tests found it failed to meet its quality standards.
The drug is used to reduce elevated body temperatures and offer pain relief for inflammatory conditions and is generally prescribed to children.
The product is manufactured by Julphar Gulf Pharmaceuticals, based in Ras Al Khaimah.
The safety notice, issued on the ministry's website, states that the product will be withdrawn from public and private health sectors and pharmacies with immediate effect.
The ministry also ordered all healthcare practitioners not to prescribe the medicine and urged members of the public to contact them immediately in case of any side effects caused by its use.

Sharrie Williams

Her Jazz Garden appearance is career highlight as she will use the event to perform the original song Big Blue Eyes, the single from her debut solo album, due for release soon.
