ABU DHABI // Abu Dhabi Health Services (Seha) warned of the rising rate of gestational diabetes in Abu Dhabi.
Figures from a recent study in Al Ain show an increase in the rate of diabetes among pregnant women to 40 per cent. Mothers-to-be are advised to watch their diet and to get tested regularly to avoid developing this type of diabetes.
Seha noted that studies reveal that the levels of gestational diabetes in the Middle East and Asia have risen to nearly 15 per cent, compared to a global level of 4 to 10 per cent.
