A lecture on mental health awareness will be held at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City on Tuesday at 7.30 pm in the Behavioural Sciences Pavilion (BSP).
Dr Mufeed Raoof, BSP Specialist Physician will talk about ways modern society can negatively influence mental health, especially in terms of worrying about everyday life.
“Urban life influences mental health through stress and confusion, family issues, loss of security and a lack of confidence in the future,” said Dr Raoof, who is also secretary general of the Emirates Psychiatric Society.
“We can easily maintain good mental health through building self-confidence, fostering positive family relationships, developing a healthy lifestyle and ensuring one is at peace with one’s own self.”
The public lecture is part of the Mental Health Awareness Program that started in March 2010, and includes a series of Arabic lectures every month on different topics related to mental health and social problems.
