Harvard Medical School is to open a training centre in conjunction with Dubai Healthcare City.

The new centre at the Mohammed bin Rashid Academic Medical Centre, in Healthcare City, will increase training and education of health professionals, as well as help bolster medical research and development.

Experts working at the centre will study new methods to improve outcomes for patients undergoing surgery, as well as those being treated for diabetes and obesity.

Raja Al Gurg, vice chairwoman of Dubai Healthcare City Authority, attended the agreement signing. She said: “The work of the centre will support our long-term commitment to improving the health of all communities within Dubai and enhance our opportunities to lead the region in advancing healthcare research and delivery.

“Establishing the centre will foster excellence among students, scientists and healthcare providers for the ultimate benefit of Dubai and those beyond our region.”

The project will see Harvard Medical School work directly with researchers and care providers from health authorities in the UAE.
