DUBAI // The first swimming pool for people with special needs has opened at the Dubai Sports Council, the state news agency Wam reported.

The council said the 25-by-25-metre pool, with a capacity for 100 trainees, was designed to meet standards set by the Paralympics, and built with safety equipment for hosting international events.

Dr Ahmed Al Shariff, secretary general of the council, said the pool was built under UAE leadership’s instructions to cater to people with special needs.
