Abu Dhabi // A healthy living initiative encouraging employees and their families to be fit has been launched by the Crown Prince Court – Abu Dhabi.
More than 200 employees of the court have already signed up for the Challenge Yourself programme, which will include activities such as weekly workshops and exercise classes.
“We wanted a programme that addressed all aspects of employee health and we needed to be able to monitor it in real time to encourage participants as they reach their goals,” said Jaber Al Suwaidi, general director of the CPC.
“We also wanted a mechanism to reward employees for taking ownership of their health.”
Mr Al Suwaidi said the programme focused on the importance of healthy bodies and minds, eating habits and lifestyles. As the CPC employees take part in the corporate challenges their achievements will be tracked and converted into Etihad Airways guest miles.
In Ramadan, a step challenge has been launched to encourage staff to stay healthy throughout the holy month.
The employee who takes the most steps between 6pm and midnight will be given a prize at the end of the week-long challenge.
“We are doing several challenges and physical exercises including jiu-jitsu, body pump and zumba classes for the ladies,” said Khalifa Al Mheiri, head of health, safety and environment at CPC.
“We are working to increase awareness about healthy living through a nutrition programme. The programme was designed a few months ago and we launched just before Ramadan since people want to achieve their targets of losing weight at this time.”
