Coronavirus: UAE records 3,123 Covid-19 cases as 13 die

The UAE recorded a slight fall in daily Covid-19 infections on Monday as recovery rates remained high.

A further 3,123 infections were confirmed – down from 3,167 on Sunday – bringing the total to 351,895.

An additional 4,892 patients overcame the virus as the recovery tally climbed to 336,731.

Thirteen patients died as the death toll in the Emirates rose to 1,027.

Fatalities among Covid-19 patients have risen sharply in recent weeks.

In the past week, 97 people have succumbed to the illness.

A record 18 deaths were reported on Thursday.

The latest infections were detected as a result of 162,774 tests.

More than 28.2 million tests have been conducted since the outbreak began.

The number of active cases dropped to 14,137 after recoveries exceeded new cases for a fifth day running.

Health officials announced 31,604 doses of vaccine were administered in the past 24 hours.

It brought the total to 5,086,835, representing 51.43 doses per 100 people since the vaccination campaign was rolled out in December.

People require two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine to be immunised against the virus.
