UAE is feted around the world

ABU DHABI // The UAE’s diplomatic missions around the world marked the 44th National Day with celebrations of their own.

They paid tribute to the Founding Father of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed, and other Rulers for their role in establishing the Union.

These celebrations highlighted the country’s significant achievements under President Sheikh Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and other Rulers.

Saed Mohammed Saed Al Muhairi, charge d’affaires at the UAE Embassy in New Delhi, hosted a reception that was attended by Indian officials, the business community, and Arab and foreign diplomats in India.

Ahmed Al Nasser Al Mil, Ambassador to Algeria, and Hamad Mohammed Humaid Al Junaibi, Ambassador to Sudan, also celebrated the day by hosting receptions and showcasing the achievements of the country.

In Manama, Abdul Reda Abdullah Al Khouri, Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, hosted a reception attended by Bahrain’s prime minister, Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, adviser to the prime minister, other senior officials and members of the diplomatic corps.

Bilal Rabia Al Badour, Ambassador to Jordan, paid a glowing tribute the UAE’s founders and lauded the country’s development at a reception in Amman.

In Geneva, Obaid Salem Al Zaabi, Permanent Representative to the UN and other international organisations in Geneva, hosted a reception to celebrate the Union.

Abdulrahman Ghanem Al Mutaiwee, Ambassador to the UK, hosted a reception attended by Alistair Burt, Britain’s minister of state for community and social care at the department of health, other senior British officials, ambassadors and dignitaries.

At a reception in Rabat, Al Asri Saeed Al Dhahiri, Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco, hailed the UAE martyrs and their sacrifices, which reflected the theme of national cohesion and solidarity with Arab brothers.

Dr Obaid Al Hairi Salem Al Ketbi, Ambassador to Australia, also marked the day with a reception attended by Gen Sir Peter John Cosgrove, governor-general of Australia and his wife, senior Australian officials, dignitaries, members of the diplomatic corps and Emirati students in Australia.

National Day receptions were also hosted at UAE embassies in Spain, Egypt, Belarus, Brazil, New Zealand, Ethiopia, Thailand, South Korea, China, Czech Republic, Vietnam, Malaysia, Bangladesh and Qatar.
