The UAE organised a virtual interfaith meeting on Sunday during which religious leaders in the Emirates spoke about building a peaceful world.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, the UAE Minister of Tolerance, said the event aimed to encourage a sense of compassion and peaceful coexistence.

"Emirati society consists of individuals from 200 nationalities. We work on spreading tolerance,” he said.

He said such meetings were not uncommon in the UAE where leaders and members of different religious sects meet regularly.

“We had the honour to meet people from all nations, and we learned to appreciate what we have in common and the differences between us.”

The meeting was attended by leaders of several religions. Afra Al Sabri, director general of the Office of Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, also attended the event.

Religious leaders hoped that the forum would be a message of peace to the world.
