A strategy to strengthen and support Emirati families and a law to regulate the distribution of medicines were approved by the UAE Cabinet on Sunday.
The National Family Policy, which Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said is based on the vision of Sheikha Fatima bint Mohammed, chairwoman of the General Women's Union, president of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, was adopted by the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
"We have adopted the National Family Policy in the UAE. Our goal is a stable and prosperous Emirati family. The National Family Policy reflects our interest in the family, which is the nucleus of our society," Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said.
Elaborating further on Twitter, Sheikh Mohammed said the policy would ensure the availability of specialists to provide family guidance and programmes to help families with financial planning.
The policy is built on six components: marriage, family relations, balance of roles, child protection, family protection and re-engineering the provision of family services to achieve family happiness, reported state news agency Wam.
The Ministry of Community Development will work with local and federal entities to implement the policy and its initiatives moving forward.

On Sunday, the Cabinet also issued a Federal Law to regulate pharmaceuticals and medical products issued in the country.
“Protecting our society from untrustworthy medical products has become a more complex and important task with the demise of borders in the virtual world we live in,” Sheikh Mohammed tweeted.
During the Cabinet meeting, attended by Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, a Federal Law was issued on the use of Information Technology and Communication in the health sector.
The law will regulate the use of technical systems, data storage, and confidentiality of data, and establishes a central database for all health authorities in the UAE, reported Wam.
The Cabinet also restructured the Emirates Scientists' Council and Arab Language Advisory Council and ratified a number of international agreements with Tajikisan and Senegal.

What is myofascial pain syndrome?
Myofascial pain syndrome refers to pain and inflammation in the body’s soft tissue. MPS is a chronic condition that affects the fascia (connective tissue that covers the muscles, which develops knots, also known as trigger points).
What are trigger points?
Trigger points are irritable knots in the soft tissue that covers muscle tissue. Through injury or overuse, muscle fibres contract as a reactive and protective measure, creating tension in the form of hard and, palpable nodules. Overuse and sustained posture are the main culprits in developing trigger points.
What is myofascial or trigger-point release?
Releasing these nodules requires a hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure to release muscular shortness and tightness. This eliminates restrictions in connective tissue in orderto restore motion and alleviate pain. Therapy balls have proven effective at causing enough commotion in the tissue, prompting the release of these hard knots.

Zakat definitions
Zakat: an Arabic word meaning ‘to cleanse’ or ‘purification’.
Nisab: the minimum amount that a Muslim must have before being obliged to pay zakat. Traditionally, the nisab threshold was 87.48 grams of gold, or 612.36 grams of silver. The monetary value of the nisab therefore varies by current prices and currencies.
Zakat Al Mal: the ‘cleansing’ of wealth, as one of the five pillars of Islam; a spiritual duty for all Muslims meeting the ‘nisab’ wealth criteria in a lunar year, to pay 2.5 per cent of their wealth in alms to the deserving and needy.
Zakat Al Fitr: a donation to charity given during Ramadan, before Eid Al Fitr, in the form of food. Every adult Muslim who possesses food in excess of the needs of themselves and their family must pay two qadahs (an old measure just over 2 kilograms) of flour, wheat, barley or rice from each person in a household, as a minimum.
