ABU DHABI // A set of commemorative stamps have been released portraying key projects initiated by President Sheikh Khalifa.
The stamps feature four major projects, including Etihad Rail, which was formed to develop the UAE’s national railway and link the country’s major population centres.
A stamp will also feature Masdar City, the low-carbon free zone focusing on sustainability that is home to residents, the Masdar Institute for Science and Technology, and offices for several multinational companies.
Stamps have also been issued for Shams 1 Solar Power Plant -– the largest concentrated solar power plant in the Middle East – and Abu Dhabi’s Khalifa Port.
“Emirates Post Group is honoured to issue these stamps that celebrate four of the most significant projects undertaken by the UAE under the vision of the President, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan,” said Ibrahim bin Karam, chief commercial officer of Emirates Post Group.
“Each of these projects has a strong historical significance and heralds a big leap for the UAE ... we are pleased to preserve these projects for posterity through these stamps that will carry their legacy to the whole world.”
The four designs are available in all post offices in sheets of 16 Dh1 stamps. Also being issued is a first-day cover, which will be priced at Dh5.
