Sheikha Lubna meets Red Cross president

The UAE’s Minister of International Cooperation and Development has met the International Committee of the Red Cross president to discuss collaboration.

Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, who is also head of the UAE Committee for the Coordination of Humanitarian Aid, met Peter Maurer to discuss issues such as Red Cross plans to respond to disasters in the Middle East.

She said the UAE has started to play a major role in supporting humanitarian groups worldwide. She also described the UAE’s relief efforts for Syrians and Yemenis suffering from the consequences of war in their countries, and described efforts in Yemen, particularly by the Emirates Red Crescent.

Mr Maurer praised UAE leaders’ support for global aid efforts and said the Red Cross hopes to work with the UAE and other GCC countries.
