Sheikh Mohammed opens World Economic Forum event in Dubai

Thinkers and business people from across the globe are meeting for Global Future Councils 2018

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, opened a World Economic Forum event on Sunday at Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai as delegates discussed the economic future of the Arab world the next period of globalisation.

Sheikh Mohammed was joined by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.

The city is hosting the annual meeting of the Global Future Councils on Sunday and Monday.

Hundreds of the foremost experts on advanced technology, biodiversity, urbanisation, finance, health and energy are attending to help articulate how a new era of global co-operation should be shaped.

The main theme of the event is what the forum calls Globalisation 4.0, a rapidly approaching new era of trade, investment and relations, buoyed by artificial intelligence, blockchain and "big data".
