ABU DHABI // Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed has expressed his pride in the nation’s youth in a text message sent to all national service recruits, and those who have completed training.

Sheikh Mohammed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, praised the national spirit and dedication of the young Emiratis.

“My sons and daughters, the recruits and graduates of the national and reserve service, the pride of the UAE, your dedication to service of the homeland is the source of our pride,” he said.

“The UAE leadership and loyal citizens see in you hope and future.”

The message expressed Sheikh Mohammed’s deep faith and trust in them to fulfil their pivotal roles of building the country and protecting its future.

The message coincided with the graduation of a new batch of recruits, and the launch of the Emirates Youth Council’s “#pride” initiative that aims to honour pride in sacrifice and give young Emiratis an identit.

The initiative urges the community to proudly praise the recruits through social media, with the tag #pride.

“The precious words in the message sent by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed had a significant impact in raising the morale among national service and reserve recruits,” said Sheikh Ahmed bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of the National and Reserve Service.

Sheikh Ahmed said the recruits received the text message with joy and pleasure.

“The message comes from a loving father to his loyal sons,” he said.

“It is a sincere expression of the appreciation of the wise leadership for all the efforts of recruits in service of the homeland.

“The inspiring words of Sheikh Mohammed are a powerful incentive for all young citizens to continue the national process to defend their homeland.”

Shamma Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, commended Sheikh Mohammed’s message, which was filled with pride and inspiration.

Ms Al Mazrui said they motivated and encouraged young people to perform their roles in the country’s development and in protecting national achievements.

She praised the #pride initiative by the Emirates Youth Council, which would contribute to consolidating the spirit of belonging and loyalty in the hearts of youths.

That would ensure they continued to develop their knowledge and skills to become leaders and policymakers of tomorrow, Ms Al Mazrui said.
