Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces met with Italian prime minister Matteo Renzi on Wednesday to promote deeper relations between the two countries.

During their meeting in Florence, Sheikh Mohammed and his Italian counterpart discussed furthering cooperation in areas of politics, economics, and investment, reported state news agency Wam.

Sheikh Mohammed added the business sectors in both countries have the potential to increase their collaboration and contribute to economic development in both countries.

Mr Renzi offered his condolences to Sheikh Mohammed on the UAE martyrs who fell while performing their national duty in Yemen.

Both leaders also discussed regional and international developments while exchanging views on a number of other issues.

Also during the visit, the Italian PM hosted a dinner banquet in honour of Sheikh Mohammed and his accompanying delegation, which was attended by a number of Italian government officials.

Ahead of the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed toured Florence town hall and was briefed by the Italian prime minister on the art collection housed there.

Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied during his visit by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State, as well as other government and military officials.
