Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed paid a glowing Mother's Day tribute to his own mother, Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak.
The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed forces shared a picture of himself with Sheikha Fatima, affectionately known as the Mother of the Nation, to mark the occasion on Sunday.
Sheikh Mohamed said she and mothers across the world were a 'blessing' and symbols of 'patience'.
"Congratulations to every mother in the Emirates and the world on Mother’s Day and every day. May God keep you healthy and [in] happiness."
Sheikh Mohamed offered his warm words to his 4.1 million followers.
Mother's Day is held on March 21 each year in the UAE.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, delivered his own congratulations on social media on Saturday.
"To all mothers, you are the source of life, you are life. Our words fall short of describing the amount of love and mercy that you put in this universe. God bless you,” Sheikh Mohammed said.
Sheikha Fatima, who is chairwoman of the General Women's Union and president of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, has been a champion for women across the Emirates.
She paid special tribute to the mother's of martyrs to commemorate the annual celebration.
"With deep reverence and gratitude, I am honoured to pay tribute and respect to the mothers of the nation's martyrs, who have demonstrated great competence in raising their children with honourable morals. [They] instilled in them faith, patience, composure and sincere patriotism," she said.
Sheikha Fatima said the people of the UAE and its leaders would always remember the sacrifices of "our children" who laid down their lives for the country.
