Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, met Sergey Lavrov, Russian Minister for Foreign Affairs, on Thursday at the Sea Palace. Sheikh Mohamed and Mr Lavrov, who has been on a four-state tour of the Gulf, discussed prospects of joint action between the UAE and Russia. They also reviewed a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest and exchanged views on them. The meeting was attended by Ali Al Shamsi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Supreme National Security Council, and Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Under-Secretary of the Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi. Also present at the meeting were Bogdanov Leonidovich, Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as a number of senior officials. On Wednesday, Mr Lavrov met Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation. A joint press conference was held in Abu Dhabi where Sheikh Abdullah said the re-opening of the UAE embassy in Damascus will help ensure <a href="https://www.thenational.ae/world/mena/syria-should-recover-its-place-in-the-arab-world-says-uae-minister-1.833972">Syria recovers its place in the Arab world</a>. Mr Lavrov said Russia is keen to continue the “uncompromising" fight against terrorism, drug and illegal arms trafficking as well as all forms of organised crime.
