The best and worst government services in Dubai will be revealed at the beginning of every year, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed announced on Sunday.

The Crown Prince of Dubai said the survey - introduced by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai - that culminated in the best and worst five government offices around the country being publicly announced would be carried out each year in Dubai to ensure the continued improvement of services.

He said the first announcement of best and worst services in the emirate would be made on January 18, 2020.

"We are committed to transparency with the announcement of these results and we expect, from today, to provide a new level of public service with the goal of making every customer of the Government of Dubai happy," Sheikh Hamdan said on Twitter.

"I will personally follow up on the quality of services and the ease and speed with which they are provided.

"All government entities in Dubai must realise that we all work under the leadership of Mohammed bin Rashid, who only recognises excellence and the number one."

The announcement followed the reveal of the five best and five worst government services across the country on Saturday.

The list came after a two-month review of 600 service centres in the country.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said the senior managers at the failing centres would be dismissed due to poor performances, while employees at the top performers were given a two-month salary bonus as a reward.

Fujairah's Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship topped the rankings thanks to the efficiency, flexibility and speed of its staff, which helped to foster a healthy and productive work environment.

The Emirates Post Group's Al Khan branch in Sharjah was bottom of the ratings due to weak employee performance. Inspectors said poor mechanisms were in place to deliver services, while morale was also described as low.
