Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, met Yemen's Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Awadh bin Mubarak in Abu Dhabi, on Wednesday.

The pair discussed the latest developments in Yemen. Sheikh Abdullah said UAE was committed to establishing security and stability in Yemen and supporting development and prosperity in the country.

He also stressed the UAE’s strong relations with Yemen. The UAE supports the Yemeni government in reaching a solution to the political crisis, he said.

Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Co-operation also attended the meeting.

Sheikh Abdullah said UAE has always supported the Riyadh peace agreement that paves the way for a political solution.

The Saudi-brokered agreement signed on November 5, 2019 aimed to resolve differences between the government and the secessionist Southern Transitional Council, allies in the fight against the Houthi rebels.

The Arab Coalition, led by Saudi Arabia and including the UAE, intervened in Yemen in March 2015 after the Houthis ousted the Yemeni government in 2014.

Since then the UAE has worked with Saudi Arabia to uproot terrorists in Yemen.
