DUBAI// Residents are being encouraged to share photographs and videos that capture their creative moments as part of the #MyDubai campaign.

The Capture Creativity competition has been launched by Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (DCAA) and seeks to celebrate the inaugural Dubai Art Season.

People can share their experiences on Instagram with the competition running until April 15.

“The overarching goal of Dubai Art Season is to integrate the community with the evolution of the city’s creative landscape,” said Saeed Al Nabouda, acting director general for DCAA.

“Through the Capture Creativity competition, we are reaching out to residents and visitors to share their creative moments, adding to the existing and continuously growing rich archive of photography and videography captured by the #MyDubai initiative.”

Dubai Art Season is the umbrella term that includes a number of the city’s premier events including Art Week, which features Art Dubai, Design Days Dubai, and Sikka Art Fair, the Middle East Film and Comic Con, and the Gulf Film Festival, as well as more than 150 other events.

People can take part in and share a wide range of activities as part of the season including workshops, outdoor art projects, exhibitions and live art and music in public spaces.

To take part people should follow Dubai Culture and MyDubai’s Instagram accounts using the hashtag #MyDubai, #dxbartseason14, and #samsungnxart. Three winners will be selected each week. The winning image or video will be announced on social media.

Winners will get VIP passes to Dubai Art Season main events and one of three Samsung NX cameras.

The #MyDubai campaign was launched in January by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai and chairman of Dubai Executive Council.

It aims to involve residents and visitors in creating the world’s first autobiography of a city by sharing compelling moments of their lives in the emirate during 2014 under the hashtag #MyDubai.
