AL AIN // City centre intersections in Al Ain will be developed as part of a plan announced by municipal officials.
The plan includes the development of intersections in the souq and industrial areas, namely Zakher Roundabout and Al Ashari Bridge.
Tawam Roundabout will be made into a tunnel or bridge, and Hazza bin Sultan Street, which extends from Al Wajan to the Airport Roundabout, will also be developed, said Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister paper of The National.
Salim Al Ketbi, executive director of the Al Ain municipal services sector, announced the plans during a meeting with residents. Representatives from the Abu Dhabi Education Council, Al Ain Police, Al Ain Distribution Company, the Department of Transport, du telecoms company, the Urban Planning Council and others attended.
Other plans discussed included work in residential areas south of the camel race track and the development of Al Hili Fun City.
Also at the meeting, telecoms company Etisalat said it would offer free wi-fi connections at locations in the city including Al Hili Fun City, Al Ain Zoo, Al Ain Mall, Hazza bin Zayed Stadium and Al Jahili Park.
